Oilsands execs say they can’t invest in decarbonization any faster, despite profits
Oilsands executives insist they are all in on cutting emissions and will make big investments in green technology, but they maintain there isn’t a place to invest that money yet.
Many companies are coming off a year of windfall profits not because they pumped out more product, but because the war in Ukraine and global supply chain crunches pushed world oil prices way up.

The cat really is out of bag now. The transition memo leaked last week shows the Trudeau government is prepared to wage war on GHG emissions and is ready to fight until every last good job in Western Canada is gone. It doesn’t matter much or how hard the CBC and Liberal spin doctors try to sugar coat it, federal officials finally got caught saying the quiet part out loud.

Carbon capture and storage, on either coal or natural gas, are not enough, Moe says of federal electricity standards
Moe said, ““The first of them coming into place in 2030 that will say not only can you not burn coal to generate electricity in Saskatchewan or in Canada, but even coal that has carbon capture and storage on it will not meet the criteria that the federal government has.
“And so essentially coal, of all types, will be banned by 2030. Further (by) 2035, now with the Clean Electricity Standard, natural gas, whether it has CCS or not, will also be banned by the year 2035.
Quick Dick McDick: A Peoplekind Named Trudeau

Brian Zinchuk: Just as the world cries out for Canadian LNG, “No business case” Trudeau has totally failed us
While the US has moved fast and hard to get LNG export facilities in place over the last decade, Canada has dragged its feet and stubbed its toe. We let protestors (Coastal GasLink), provincial governments (Quebec) and the federal government (Energie Saguenay) get in the way. Now, while the world is crying for LNG from Canada, we have nothing – NOTHING – to give them.
What else would you expect from a government who killed the Northern Gateway and Energy East pipelines? That scared off Teck from its $20 billion Frontier oil sands project? That hardly whimpered when Biden killed Keystone XL?
Germany opens its 2nd liquefied natural gas terminal
