Saturn closes deal buying up Crescent Point’s assets in Saskatchewan Viking
Saturn Oil & Gas Inc. announced on July 6 they had closed their previously announced previously announced acquisition of assets in the Viking area of West-central Saskatchewan from Crescent Point Energy Corp. The deal is for cash consideration of approximately $248 million (net of adjustments). Saturn also has completed a non-brokered private placement for gross proceeds of $400,326.

European Union lawmakers voted Wednesday to include natural gas and nuclear in the bloc’s list of sustainable activities, backing a proposal from the EU’s executive arm that has been drawing fierce criticism from environment groups and now looks set to trigger legal challenges.
As the EU wants to set the best global standards in the fight against climate change, the decision could tarnish the bloc’s image and question the region’s commitment to reaching climate neutrality by 2050.

FortisBC, Suncor to partner on Port Moody hydrogen pilot project
FortisBC Energy Inc. says it will partner with Suncor Energy Inc. and Hazer Group Ltd. to build a hydrogen pilot project in Port Moody, B.C.
The $11-million pilot project will also be supported with grant funding from the provincial government’s CleanBC Industry Fund.
The project will be located at Suncor’s Burrard Terminal site and will produce hydrogen from natural gas.

OPEC+ oil boost likely not much help to high gasoline prices
NEW YORK (AP) — The OPEC oil cartel and allied producing nations decided Thursday to boost production of crude by an amount that will likely do little to relieve high gasoline prices at the pump and energy-fueled inflation plaguing the global economy.
The increase of 648,000 barrels per day in August leaves the world thirsty for oil as it rebounds from the COVID-19 pandemic and runs up against the inability of the 23-member OPEC+ alliance to meet its production quotas.
OPEC+, which includes Russia, confirmed the decision from its last meeting. Before that, it had been adding about 432,000 barrels per day monthly to put oil back on the market after cutting production dramatically during the height of the pandemic.
