Brian Zinchuk on John Gormley Live: Moe’s line in the sand on power generation, Williston Basin Petroleum Conference, hiring
CJME/CKOM’s John Gormley and Pipeline Online’s Brian Zinchuk hash over Premier Scott Moe’s drawing a line in the sand, or maybe Saskatchewan dirt, on unrealistic, impossible and ideological power production expectations by the federal government by 2035. The Saskatchewan First Act is a key part of this.
Wind and Solar Fail: We are throwing away what we know works, for something we know does not
Part of the energy transition, playing out in Western Canada, is the elimination of baseload coal-fired power generation, and the implementation of highly intermittent solar and wind power generation. Pipeline Online editor and owner Brian Zinchuk, of Estevan, speaks about how wind and solar power generation frequently totally collapse, and can never be truly relied upon to power our 21st century economy.
Moe draws the line in the dirt: “We will not attempt the impossible when it comes to power production”
“I want to be very clear about this in Saskatchewan, we will not attempt the impossible when it comes to power production. We’re not going to risk plunging our homes, our schools, our hospitals, our businesses, that are operating and creating wealth in our communities into a cold and dark evening because of the ideological winds up another level of government.”
Net zero by 2035? Not going to happen in Saskatchewan, according to Moe. Natural gas, renewables, nuclear, and maybe even coal will be part of the mix
REGINA – After delivering his keynote speech to the Williston Basin Petroleum Conference in Regina on May 2, Premier Scott Moe had a lot to say to reporters about power generation and energy transition. There’s a lot to unpack here, but Moe makes some of the...
