Part of the energy transition, playing out in Western Canada, is the elimination of baseload coal-fired power generation, and the implementation of highly intermittent solar and wind power generation.

This is Part 2 of a presentation to the ratepayers of the RM of Estevan, Saskatchewan on April 26. In it, Pipeline Online editor and owner Brian Zinchuk, of Estevan, speaks about how wind and solar power generation frequently totally collapse, and can never be truly relied upon to power our 21st century economy.

Also, what happens at the end of the project? And what if the developer goes belly up, or hail destroys the project? Who will clean it up?

How is it that we are throwing away what we know works, for something we absolutely know does not?

Although we may justifiably blame the Justin Trudeau government for this, it’s really the Joe Biden administration, which has forced automakers down this path we are all now following. And how does nuclear play into all this? Are four small modular reactors (SMRs) going to be enough, if we are to double or triple the electrical grid by 2050, as the federal budget says we must?

In Part 1, Jason Schneider, the Reeve of Vulcan County, Alberta, was invited to speak to ratepayers of the RM of Estevan about the realities of wind and solar development. Vulcan County is home of the largest solar facility in Canada, as well as numerous wind farms. Part 1:
