For the largest shakeup of his cabinet since becoming prime minister in 2015, Justin Trudeau left alone the two key minister most responsible for the trials and tribulations of the energy industry and a federally-enforced “energy transition.” Indeed, one of those ministers was given an added title on this file.

Brian Zinchuk: Diesel won’t be easily replaced on the farm, Mr. Minister of Natural Resources
A few years ago I was hired to video and photograph a year on the farm for Jason and Sherrill LeBlanc of Estevan. They had their then-14 year old daughter driving a mammoth Case combine, and doing so well. I wonder how much more productive one girl driving a combine was compared to teams of men with scythes, then stookers, then threshing crews.

Editor’s note: sometimes you just have to hear it from the horse’s mouth. And with that, here is the most recent press release from the federal government villainizing oil and gas:
Greta Thunberg defiant after Swedish court fines her for disobeying police during climate protest
Hours after a Swedish court fined Greta Thunberg for disobeying police during an environmental protest at an oil facility last month, the climate activist once again attempted to block access to the facility and was removed by police.
Earlier on Monday, Thunberg, 20, admitted to the facts but denied guilt, saying the fight against the fossil fuel industry was a form of self-defense due to the existential and global threat of the climate crisis.

Brian Zinchuk: How a real life Hoth ice base in Greenland in the 60s calls CO2 concerns into question today
Whoa, there, Nelly! You’re telling me that carbon dioxide levels were a full third less than they are at this very moment, and yet the northernmost portions of Greenland (the most likely to freeze) was tundra? It did not have most of a mile of ice covering it? Well below the supposedly crucial threshold of 350 parts per million?
Maybe the science isn’t settled, after all.

And it looks like the fight between Ottawa, Regina and Edmonton is heating up when it comes to all of the above.
