WestJet ending flights from Lloydminster to Calgary in April

LLOYDMINSTER – It can be a long drive from Lloydminster to Calgary. And it looks like it will be again, with WestJet ending service between the oil capital and the heavy oil capital.

As originally reported by Live with Kurt Price, Lloydminster is losing its air service with Western Canada’s largest airline. Currently, there are three flights a week listed between Lloydminster and Calgary.

WestJet responded to an email from Pipeline Online on Dec. 14 saying, “We can confirm that WestJet Link service between Lloydminster and Calgary will be removed from our schedule effective April 15, 2024. Service between now and April 14, 2024, will not be impacted.

“The decision to remove service is never taken lightly, and we understand this is disappointing news for the community and apologize for the impact this may have. Despite efforts made to support the route’s viability, service between Lloydminster and Calgary was not performing to expectations.

“Impacted guests will be provided with as much advance notice as possible, and the option to select alternative travel arrangements or to receive a refund to their original form of payment.”
