Enbridge sells Alliance Pipeline, Aux Sable to Pembina Pipeline

In 1999-2000, the Alliance Pipeline was built from Fort St. John to the outskirts of Chicago, cutting right across Saskatchewan along the way. It was to be a game-changer for natural gas from northeast Alberta and northwest British Columbia, allowing otherwise largely stranded gas access to mid-continental markets and ultimately allowing for the more recent growth in the Montney gas play.
