A Million Times We Cry: Stacey Grimes-Wempe writes memoir on grief, and launches it at oil show
An oil show isn’t a typical place for a book launch, but for Stacey Grimes-Wempe, it was fitting. After all, her book was sitting close to the model pumpjack sitting on the counter of her display.
Brian Zinchuk: Too much wind, not enough wind? What’s going on in Alberta?
Weird things have been happening in Alberta’s electrical grid over the last week. Interties to BC and Montana are down due to maintenance. Many hours have seen zero dollars paid for power. Wind and solar have been in such surplus numerous facilities have shut down at times to clear the glut. The grid frequency has had numerous variances, including “due to sudden variability of renewables.” Is the Alberta grid pushing the limits of how much wind and solar it can take?

Mike Rowe of Dirty Jobs fame and Victor Davis Hanson have a brutally honest discussion about what’s wrong with society, from education to DEI to class warfare. There’s a lot of talk about elites vs. the people with more “muscular” jobs. There has little to do with energy and everything about reality. It’s definitely worth your time to listen to this weekend.

Brian Zinchuk: Did the mainstream media even know they were in Lloydminster?
One would think the mainstream which travelled something like three hours to attend a press conference at an oil show, in Lloydminster, might just ask questions that might be relevant to a.) the energy industry, b.) Lloydminster or c.) all the above.
You would think.
And you would be wrong.

Alberta had free power for more than a day in August, and seven hours last weekend – how does that happen?
A weird thing happened the weekend of Aug. 23-25: For 30 hours, most of that in a block on Aug. 24, the price of electrical power in Alberta was zero dollars per megawatt. Essentially, power on the Alberta grid was free for more than a day. A similar thing happened this last weekend.
Which brings about a fundamental issue – the problem with no one getting paid is no one is getting paid.
