Trevor Rose Podcasts shares insights on energy, investing, entrepreneurship & other business related items
Trevor Rose has some pretty spectacular podcasts with movers and shakers in the energy industry, but this podcast with Scott Saxberg, founder and former CEO of Crescent Point, has got to be one of his best. As an outside observer who spent the better part of a decade observing what Crescent Point was doing, with its phenomenal growth to at one point the largest producer in Saskatchewan, this interview was fascinating.
To put it bluntly, Saxberg has been one of the most influential oilmen in Saskatchewan in a generation.
He describes how the company accomplished that remarkable growth, although interestingly enough he speaks more about the acquisitions than growth through the drillbit. For several years under Saxberg, Crescent Point employed more drilling rigs than any other oil company, and often more than the No. 2 and 3 combined. And nearly all of those rigs were drilling in Saskatchewan.
Saxberg is still the game in southeast Saskatchewan, with a private company called Cache Island, which is active north of Stoughton and one of the pioneers of large multilateral wells in southeast Saskatchewan.
If you worked in southeast or southwest Saskatchewan during the Bakken boom, you will likely find some insight into how things came about. If you can find time this weekend to listen to it, do so.
