Estevan Meter, Virden Meter and Apollo Electric & Controls unify as PRIMEC Controls
Changing your company’s name after operating 55 years under that title is not an easy decision. Indeed, it took roughly five years to come to that point.
But on Nov. 22, Estevan Meter Services and its sister companies Virden Meter Services and Apollo Electric & Controls announced they would be uniting under one new name and entity. Effective Jan. 1, 2023, they will be known as PRIMEC Controls Corporation, and will be branded as PRIMEC Controls Canada.
Federal consumer carbon price to expand to three Atlantic provinces next summer
Labour Minister Seamus O’Regan, who appeared with Guilbeault at a press conference on Tuesday, was having none of it.
“What I particularly resent is the stoking of drama and anxiety among people, whether it be in my province or any anywhere in the country,” he said.
O’Regan, who represents a St. John’s riding, insisted that carbon pricing isn’t making life less affordable because the rebates are worth more to most people than the carbon prices they will pay — something that has been confirmed by the Parliamentary Budget Officer.
“This is a good plan, and there will be more money in your bank account than there was before, and you will be doing something very effective.”

Crude oil tumbles on report that OPEC plus could hike production
Crude oil prices slumped to a 10-month low Monday morning before rebounding at midday, adding to the volatility that has dogged the Canadian energy sector recently.
The benchmark West Texas Intermediate plunged by as much as US$5 in the early part of the day, trading as low as US$75 in reaction to a Wall Street Journal report saying Saudi Arabia and other OPEC-plus countries may increase oil output by up to 500,000 barrels per day at their Dec. 4 meeting.
