Spanish company drops LNG terminal in New Brunswick citing high costs to ship gas
The Spanish company behind a proposal to export liquefied natural gas to Europe through a terminal in Saint John, N.B., has announced it will not go ahead with the project because the costs are too high.
New Brunswick Premier Blaine Higgs said Friday he was disappointed by Repsol’s decision to drop the project but not completely surprised because he was aware of issues surrounding costs.

SaskPower announced last summer that it would be substantially increasing its transmission line interconnect with the American Southwest Power Pool (SPP). British Columbia announces new energy ‘framework’ on heels of LNG facility approval
The British Columbia government says it’s rolling out a new framework for approving oil and gas projects that will ensure the province meets its emissions targets in the coming decades.
Premier David Eby said Tuesday the framework will require new liquefied natural gas facilities to have a “credible plan” for net-zero emissions by 2030 and there will be an emissions cap on the industry.
