Parkland rejects activist investor’s call to sell or spin off Burnaby, B.C. refinery
Parkland Fuel Corp. said Thursday its Burnaby, B.C. refinery is not for sale, even in the face of pressure from an activist investor.
The Calgary-based fuel retailer and convenience store operator has been the subject of a campaign by U.S.-based Engine Capital LP, which owns about a two per cent stake in Parkland.
Loblaw strikes deal with TC Energy to power all Alberta operations with renewables
Loblaw Companies Ltd. says it has reached a deal with TC Energy that will see the grocer’s operations in Alberta powered entirely by wind, sun and water.
The retailer says the arrangement is a first of its kind in Canada, providing its 280 supermarket and drugstore locations as well as its offices and distribution centres in Alberta with electricity from renewable sources.

North American Helium opens 6th processing facility, 2 months after its 4th and 5th; adds second rig
Saskatchewan’s leading helium producer, North American Helium Inc. (NAH), announced bringing online its sixth processing facility, and putting a second drilling rig to work to ramp up its exploration and development.
The announcement comes just a couple months after it brought its fourth and fifth processing facilities online. Combined, these are major developments for Saskatchewan’s helium industry, as North American is the first helium producer to bring new production online in years.
