39 rigs drilling in Saskatchewan on Feb. 3
February is historically the busiest time of the year for drilling rigs, so here’s a snapshot of what’s happening in the field on Feb. 2:
Across Saskatchewan, there were 39 rigs working.

Monday evening someone sent me this via chat regarding the wind project: “Good. Need to cancel the project. Residents don’t want it.”
Well guess what, folks: There are going to be some residents who don’t want reactors, either, no matter where they are built. And they are going to fight tooth and nail in opposition.

Enbridge’s Seven Stars Energy Project hits snag with RM of Griffin
Half of the 200 megawatt wind project, 23 of a total of 46 wind turbines, are planned for the RM of Weyburn. The remaining half, another 23 turbines, are slated for the neighbouring RM of Griffin. And while the RM of Weyburn had recently approved a development permit, the same application is now stalled with the RM of Griffin.
Imperial Oil shutting down Norman Wells after over a century of operations
Hydrocarbon production at Norman Wells in the Northwest Territories will end in the third quarter of 2026 as the facility comes to the end of its lifespan.
