Stampede Drilling is going to wildcat in Greenland – and that’s no joke
Stampede Drilling, originally founded in Estevan, is sending a drilling rig to Greenland, yes, Greenland, to drill for oil. This is about as wildcat as you can possibly get, in one of the most inaccessible and hostile places on the planet.
This is NOT an April Fool’s joke, either.

The big question was what would the NDP’s reaction be to this in the long run, given they are the “government in waiting.” After many months of studying it, on March 13, it was revealed. The NDP are not in favour of refurbishments, but also not in favour of shutting down coal right away, either.

The new data centre in Regina has big implications for coal in Estevan and Coronach. Indeed, without dispatchable baseload power from coal and natural gas, it’s unlikely this announcment would have happened.
