At 9:25 a.m. on Tuesday, May 9, Alberta’s wind power generation cratered, again, to 13 megawatts.
That’s out of a nameplate capacity of 3,618 megawatts installed, between hundreds of wind turbines across 36 wind farms, collectively costing billions of dollars. That 13 megawatts was 0.4 per cent capacity.
Solar had fortunately lit up for the day, as at that moment solar was producing 918 megawatts out of a possible 1,192 megawatts installed capacity.

Wind is at 0.4% of capacity and producing 0.1% of total generation, while solar is at 77.0% of capacity and producing 10.53% of total generation. An hour later, at 10:25 a.m., win generation had risen slightly, to 20 megawatts, or 0.6 per cent capacity.
For eight hours, wind generation remained below 100 megawatts.
