WEYBURN – The Weyburn OTS Open Bonspiel is taking place Feb. 3-4.

The 24-team event is full as of Jan. 27, but organizer Rob Somerville said that it’s still possible to be put on a waiting list in case someone drops out.

“We have a couple of different things this year,” he said. “We have a guaranteed 50/50 So it’ll be a $1,000 total 50/50 guarantee.” Swift Supply put up the money for the guarantee. Agat Labs is the major sponsor for the event, sponsoring the supper, while Whitecap is sponsoring the breakfast on Saturday.

It’ll be a skins event. Supper is on Friday. Paddock Brewing will have a taste-testing of its brews on Friday. The Calcutta is Friday night.

Proceeds from the event will go towards paying half of the junior curlers fees for all of Weyburn. A scholarship is offered every year. Assistance is also offered to other curling events and Special Olympics.
