Zero. Zip. Nada: Wind power in Saskatchewan for over an hour on Friday, March 22 flatlines, again

On March 22, Saskatchewan’s fleet of grid-scale wind power generation produced next to nothing for half the day, and zero power at all for just over an hour.

SaskPower spokesperson Joel Cherry said by email on March 25, “We were at less than 10 megawatts for 12 hours that day, and at 0 for a little more than one hour.”

The fleet of wind farms, most of which are privately-owned independent power producers, totals 617 megawatts. Ten megawatts is 1.6 per cent of capacity.

The 24 hour average was 24 megawatts power generation from wind.
