ESTEVAN – Drilling activity in southwest and west central Saskatchewan are both markedly down in the first week of December, according to Canadian Association of Energy Contractors (CAOEC) data published by RiggerTalk.com.

As of Dec. 6, there were 13 rigs working in southeast Saskatchewan, nine in the northwest, six in west central, and just one in the southwest.

That singular rig was the only one working from Kindersley to the U.S. border, with Savanna Drilling Rig 629 drilling for North American Helium at Ponteix.

West central Saskatchewan had a cluster of five rigs working within close proximity of Kiyiu Lake, northeast of Kindersley. Teine Energy has all five of those rigs – Ensign Drilling Rig 350, 356, 351 all within a mile of each other on the south end of the lake, and Ensign Rig 537 and Predator Drilling Rig 9 on the east end.

Ish Energy Ltd. had Lasso Drilling Corp. Rig 6 drilling straight west of Coleville.

Strathcona Resources had Precision Drilling Rig 145 at Winter, northwest of Unity.
