Quick Dick McDick chose to release this on April 1, April Fool’s Day. Why? Because that’s the day the federal carbon tax went up, again, this time by $15 per tonne to $65 per tonne of CO2 equivalent. (That’s a 30% increase, if you were counting).
This one comes to you from the barn, as its calving season (and winter has decided to stick around.) “Thought from the barn: The Carbon Tax” stars Quick Dick McDick and several cows. “Is it convenient that they do this every April Fool’s Day? It’s like they’re laughing at us,” he opined. “We’re punished unmercifully, as Canadians, for driving, heating our homes, and eating, all while being responsible for this much (1.6 per cent) of global greenhouse gas emissions, on a faulty national inventory report.”
Quick Dick also digs into the Clean Fuel Standard (what some call a “second carbon tax”). He goes into depth on how farms, food and businesses get whacked by the carbon tax.
