REGINA – The PTRC will be hosting the Plenary Conference of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Technical Committee 265 (ISO/TC265) on June 5th to 9th, 2023 in Regina.

The City of Regina is the birthplace of the World’s first CCS Standards (CSA Z741) that were developed by Canadian experts some 12 years ago, by a team that included PTRC’s leadership. Canada is now leading the development of the ISO International Standards.

The ISO TC-265 is working on standardization of design, construction, operation, environmental planning/management, risk management, quantification, monitoring and verification, along with related activities in the field of carbon dioxide capture, transportation, and geological storage. Standards also include the storage of carbon dioxide in oil and gas fields. International experts from 24 countries will gather in Regina to conduct a plenary meeting and continue their work on the international standards

Occurring at the Hotel Saskatchewan in Regina, the plenary has sponsorship opportunities available for industries and regulatory groups interested in learning more about the ISO’s work.

A special morning session is being established for sponsors to meet with the international experts to discuss work being conducted on the standards and guidelines. A field trip is also planned on June 7th to SaskPower’s Boundary Dam CCS Facility, the Aquistore CO2 storage site, and Whitecaps Weyburn CO2-EOR operations.  Sponsoring companies will be able to have representatives join this tour.
