The April 17 English language debate between four national party leaders got deep into energy policy, with energy and climate change being given a segment for debate. Bloc Québécois Leader Yves-François Blanchet, NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre and Liberal Leader Mark Carney took part in the second of two back-to-back debates in Montreal.

Manitoba Hydro ends two US contracts, seeks to sell power to Nunavut and possibly Saskatchewan
Manitoba Hydro will not be renewing two contracts totalling 500 megawatts of power capacity, and will instead be offering it for possibly two energy corridors – one to the north, and one running east-west.
And the Manitoba premier is definitely looking to Saskatchewan for future power sales.
“We need to diversify our markets. We need to get to other places.”

Is national unity at stake right now, from a Saskatchewan perspective, given the trade war and the prospects of possibly a fourth term of Liberal government?
Brian Zinchuk: Gopher control and a scholarship took precedence over a half billion dollar wind project
But then they had other matters to attend to. More important matters.
For instance – the sole applicant for a scholarship will be awarded said scholarship.
Ratepayers will be able to get a pail of gopher control chemicals free of charge, but have to pay for any additional pails.
