Ontario Leads the G7 by Building First Small Modular Reactor
On May 8, Ontario and Ontario Power Generation (OPG) announced the green-lighting of four small modular reactors at the Darlington New Nuclear site. Here is the Ontario press release, verbatim. Parkland agrees to be bought by U.S. heavyweight Sunoco in US$9.1B deal
A judge has declined to hear a challenge to Parkland Corp.’s last-minute decision to delay its shareholder meeting by more than a month so investors can vote on a US$9.1-billion takeover by Sunoco LP at the same time they elect a board of directors.
Enbridge’s Seven Stars wind project survives crucial RM of Weyburn vote
Enbridge’s Seven Stars Energy Project lives to carry on another day, as the RM of Weyburn passed a critical bylaw amendment on May 7 which will remove a restriction on wind turbine height.
SaskPower awards major wind and solar projects to Meadow Lake Tribal Council, Mistawasis Nêhiyawak and Potentia partnerships
The two projects are a 200 megawatt wind facility to be located east of Assiniboia, and a 100 megawatt solar facility south of Coronach. Two partnerships formed by Potentia Renewables Inc., and its Indigenous partners, Meadow Lake Tribal Council (MLTC) and Mistawasis Nêhiyawak First Nation, will develop, own, and operate a new wind and a new solar facility in south-central Saskatchewan.

US and Ukraine sign deal giving US access to country’s valuable mineral wealth
The U.S. and Ukraine on Wednesday signed an agreement granting American access to Ukraine’s vast mineral resources, finalizing a deal months in the making that could enable continued military aid to Kyiv amid concerns that President Donald Trump might scale back support in ongoing peace negotiations with Russia.
Either a bylaw amendment is approved, or the Weyburn wind project is dead
Over a half billion dollar wind project is on the line just outside of Weyburn, and at this point it comes down to one simple thing – a bylaw on the books of the RM of Weyburn that was never really intended to be there in the first place needs to be changed to allow taller wind turbines, or the project will die.
