Crown land sales are a leading indicator of future development, and while the Aug. 6 petroleum and natural gas public offering showed extensive interest in southeast Saskatchewan, and some interest in northwest and west central Saskatchewan, it showed no interest in southwest Saskatchewan.
Ontario to procure 5,000 MW of energy, ban solar farms on prime agricultural land
Ontario is looking to add some 5,000 megawatts of energy to the grid, with Lecce directing the Independent Electricity System Operator to secure “technology agnostic” energy resources. That means the province will use a mix of natural gas, hydroelectric, renewables, nuclear and biomass energy sources, he said.

Expanded mineral exploration incentive drives increased investment in Saskatchewan, says Sask Gov’t
Investment in Saskatchewan is growing as more mining companies are exploring for minerals in the province, thanks to the Ministry of Energy and Resources’ Targeted Mineral Exploration Incentive (TMEI), the Saskatchewan Ministry of Energy and Resources said in a release on Aug. 22. It’s another in a series of announcements related to critical mineral development. In early August, there was an announcement on critical mineral incentives, with lithium and helium development notably targeted.
