Enbridge sees $1.8 billion profit in Q2 as Mainline pipeline settlement reached
Enbridge Inc. says its most recent quarter delivered a profit of $1.8 billion as it reached a settlement with shippers for tolls on its Mainline pipeline system and moved toward proceeding with its Rio Bravo pipeline project.

OTTAWA – On July 19, Ottawa-based think tank Public Policy Forum released “Project of the Century: A Blueprint for Growing Canada’s Clean Electricity Supply – and Fast.” This 43 page report is the most comprehensive discussion of Canada’s “energy transition,” as envisioned by the Liberal federal government, Pipeline Online has come across. It focuses on more than doubling the electrical grid by 2050, but doing so without growth in fossil fuel power generation.

Three days after the Alberta government put the brakes on wind and solar development, wind power generation in that province fell, yet again, to less than 1 per cent capacity. And it remained below 5 per from mid-morning until at least late afternoon.

Two days after Alberta taps the brakes on wind development, wind power bottoms out again
On Thursday, the Alberta government announced a six-month pause on approvals for wind and solar projects, and by Saturday, wind generation in that province yet again bottomed out for much of the day.
NB Power says bringing electricity via Atlantic Loop could be cost-prohibitive
New Brunswick’s power utility has questioned the viability of the Atlantic Loop energy project because of the potential costs.
The Atlantic Loop aims to wean Nova Scotia and New Brunswick off coal with hydroelectricity from Quebec and Newfoundland and Labrador. For New Brunswick, the project proposes to bring an additional 1,150 megawatts of transmission capacity into the province from Quebec by 2030.

Alberta announces six-month pause on renewable energy, citing rural concerns
Alberta’s United Conservative government is pausing all approvals of large renewable energy projects in response to what it says are rural and environmental concerns.
In a statement Thursday, the government said the Alberta Utilities Commission is to institute a six-month moratorium on approving all wind and solar power projects greater than one megawatt over issues of development on agricultural land, effect on scenery, reclamation security and system reliability.

Grounded Lithium Corp. announced some of the metrics around its proposed Kindersley Lithium Project (KLP) coming from its preliminary economic assessment (PEA). And if those numbers hold, this one, singular lithium project could be seeing revenue to the tune of more than a third of a billion dollars per year. And if successful and prices hold, that could result in payout in less than a year and half once operations commence.
Pledge to plant 2 billion trees lofty but attainable, Natural Resources minister says
SURREY, BC – Canada’s plan to plant two billion trees by 2030 is ahead of schedule, but mitigating the effects of climate change is as important as adapting to them, says Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilkinson.
