Emissions cap puts methane in spotlight; industry says low-hanging fruit already gone
Oil and gas producers who have already made progress on lowering their methane emissions over the last decade say further large-scale reductions will be tougher to deliver.

Pipeline News is continuing its quest to ensure all Canadians know exactly what the federal government is telling us about its climate change agenda. On Nov. 4, Minister of Environment and Climate Change Steven Guilbeault released draft regulations on a cap on greenhouse gas emissions from the oil and gas sector of the economy. In the X post made on Nov. 4, Guilbeault continually refers to carbon dioxide as “pollution,” but does not refer to it as “plant food,” which it is.

Editor’s note: After subsidizing newspaper news for several years now, and its ongoing subsidies for the CBC, on Nov. 4, the federal Liberal government announced its intentions to subsidize radio news now, too. The funding announcement comes less than a year before the expected federal election.
