LLOYDMINSTER – Get in your truck and get to the Lloydminster exhibition grounds for the 2026 Lloydminster Heavy Oil Show.
The Border City is the heavy oil capital of Canada, and the show is a chance to show off the latest and greatest in the industry.
It doesn’t hurt that the show kicked off with the price of oil hitting $105 per barrel, either. And with all the talk of Alberta and Saskatchewan governments seeking to dramatically increase production, new pipeline projects that just might happen, and a total shift in federal government policy, there were plenty of smiles to go around.
The doors open at 9 a.m. and it’s promising to be a great show. According to organizers, the number of exhibitors is up to 208 from 180 in 2024.
It was a full house on Tuesday evening as Saskatchewan Energy and Resources Minister Chris Beaudry was one of the speakers to kick off the event. Heather Exner-Pirot joined CNRL’s Robin Zabek on stage in a fireside chat with Mayor Gerald Aalbers. Exner-Pirot laid out a list of positive developments going on in the industry that indicate the start of a potential decade-long commodity supercycle. (Expect more detailed coverage from Pipeline Online as time allows)
The mood was more positive than many in the industry have seen in years.
So come on down – entrance is free. The show takes place Wednesday and Thursday, wrapping early afternoon on Thursday.
