If your company uses breathing apparatus or gloves (and really, who doesn’t?) you might want to send a representative to Weyburn to see what’s new in those lines of personal protective equipment.

Energy Safety Canada Saskatchewan (ESC SK) will be holding its quarterly Saskatchewan Information Group meeting at Southeast College in Weyburn on Wednesday, March 8. The meeting will be held from 8:45 to 11 a.m.

The in-person event will feature Brad Young, safety specialist for Saskatchewan’s 3M Personal Safety Division and Zach Eberle, glove specialist with Watson Gloves. Watson Gloves are by far the most common gloves available in most retail spaces in southeast Saskatchewan.

ESC SK manager Bob Ross said on Feb. 21, “Industry always reaches out to us. And they’re always looking for what’s new? What’s current? What’s coming down the pipe, so on and so forth? And it seems like right now, respiratory protection is getting back up there as an issue. So we reached out to all these different presenters and providers. 3M is a is a key manufacturer, especially in the world of health and safety.

“And then, of course, hand injuries are starting to rear its head again. So that’s why we have Watson coming in on impact gloves.”

The presentations will include updates and demonstrations on:

  • Latest innovations in hearing and respiratory protection
  • Confined space and fall protection personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Hand protection and safety
  • Explanation of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) impact and cut standards

Additionally, ESC SK will have a review of 2022 energy safety injury claims and an activities update.
