Lithium in SK, Part 19: Grounded Lithium’s Kindersley project could cost $447 million to build, but bring in $350 million per year

Grounded Lithium Corp. announced some of the metrics around its proposed Kindersley Lithium Project (KLP) coming from its preliminary economic assessment (PEA). And if those numbers hold, this one, singular lithium project could be seeing revenue to the tune of more than a third of a billion dollars per year. And if successful and prices hold, that could result in payout in less than a year and half once operations commence.

There’s been a lot of talk about “just transition,” “energy transition” and “coal transition,” but precious little action converting fossil fuel workers to new industries. Rod Cullen, a coal miner from Estevan, is bucking that trend and has launched a business to allow him to eventually “transition” away from his job operating dozers and draglines. Ontario and Bruce Power begin planning for massive new 4,800 megawatt nuclear power addition

Bruce Power and the Province of Ontario announced initial work on the first major new nuclear power generating station in this country in two generations.

This is not “small modular reactors,” but 4,800 megawatts of “big nuclear,” to be built adjacent to the existing Bruce Nuclear Generating Station, on the shores of Lake Huron. For perspective, the most power SaskPower has ever generated was 3,910 megawatts on Dec. 30, 2021. If each of the new reactors turns out to be 1,200 megawatts – just one of those reactors would equal all four, combined, that Saskatchewan is currently considering.
