On Wednesday, April 10, CJME/CKOM’s Evan Bray show started off with a one-two punch on the federal government’s greenhouse gas emissions cap for oil and gas production, and the related Methane 75 regulation which seeks to cut methane emissions by 75 per cent by 2030 compared to 2012 levels.
First up on the show was Minister of Justice and Attorney General Bronwyn Eyre, who was previously Minister of Energy and Resources, and has been fighting this file for many years. She announced on Monday, April 8, that the province was invoking the Saskatchewan First Act and referring this to the Economic Impact Assessment Tribunal.

To provide more context, next up was Pipeline Online editor and owner Brian Zinchuk on this. Note the discussion towards the end regarding Ken From, who has personally run oil companies, has been CEO of SaskEnergy and the Petroleum Technology Research Centre. He’s also contributed a few columns to Pipeline Online over the years. From is one of the people chosen for the tribunal, but it has not yet been announced which tribunal members will be part of the panel working on this particular file.
