“These advancements are more than just policies – they have a meaningful impact on the lives of our members and their families, creating long-term job security, vibrant communities, while providing reliable and affordable power to Saskatchewan residents.”

Several letters of support were written backing the province’s move to rebuilt its coal fleet, announced on June 18. This letter is from Tyler Holmen, business manager with International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 2067:

On behalf of IBEW 2067 and our members, I would like to acknowledge our full support, as well as extend our sincere gratitude to the Government of Saskatchewan, specifically Minister Harrison, Minister Marit, Minister Carr and Premier Moe, for their leadership and commitment to our members, their families, communities, and the people of Saskatchewan, with this welcomed announcement on life-extensions in coal fired power generation and the coal mining industry in Saskatchewan:

These advancements are more than just policies – they have a meaningful impact on the lives of our members and their families, creating long-term job security, vibrant communities, while providing reliable and affordable power to Saskatchewan residents.

We also want to acknowledge the open lines of communication and the willingness of your team to listen and collaborate. This partnership between the government and labour

Organizations like ours sets an important example of how collaboration can lead to shared prosperity and a stronger, more equitable workforce. Your recognition of the vital role IBEW Local 2067 plays in advancing workers’ rights and building inclusive economic growth is both encouraging and deeply appreciated.

We look forward to strengthening this relationship and building on the progress we’ve made together.

With sincere thanks,

Tyler Holmen
