Several letters of support were written backing the province’s move to rebuilt its coal fleet, announced on June 18. This letter is from the RM of Hart Butte, home to the Poplar River Power Station near Coronach:

Re: Letter of Support for the Extension and Revitalization of Poplar River Power Plant

The Council for the Rural Municipality of Hart Butte No. 11 would like to express their strong support to the Government of Saskatchewan for their decision to extend the operational life of the Poplar River Power Plant.

This extension and revitalization of the Poplar River Power Plant will utilize a skilled workforce, support small business through procurement and services, and bring significant economic benefits to the region, while creating an environment for further commercial growth.
