These maps, released by SaskPower on Friday, May 31, show the two sites under consideration. The first is along the south side of the road that goes into Woodlawn Regional Park, on Boundary Dam Reservoir. The second is due south of Macoun, on the north shore of Rafferty Reservoir. SaskPowerSaskPower has recently narrowed its search for a potential host site for the province’s first small modular reactor (SMR) facility to add nuclear power from SMRs to the power supply mix. And as part of an extensive outreach program, SaskPower is holding another round of local consultations in southeast Saskatchewan, according to its website.
Premier Scott Moe came to Estevan on May 30 to announce the location for the province’s first two SMRs will either be on east shore of Boundary Dam Reservoir, immediately south of Woodlawn Regional Park, or on the north shore of Rafferty Reservoir, straight south of Macoun.

Since Estevan and Macoun are the closest communities to the potential sites, SaskPower will have a small team available to connect with people in the area. SaskPower said on it website, “Feel free to stop by during the dates and times noted below to learn more about the SMR project and to ask any questions you may have.”
