CN Rail hub set to proceed after Supreme Court dismisses appeal request

Enbridge’s Seven Stars wind project survives crucial RM of Weyburn vote
Enbridge’s Seven Stars Energy Project lives to carry on another day, as the RM of Weyburn passed a critical bylaw amendment on May 7 which will remove a restriction on wind turbine height.

SaskPower awards major wind and solar projects to Meadow Lake Tribal Council, Mistawasis Nêhiyawak and Potentia partnerships
The two projects are a 200 megawatt wind facility to be located east of Assiniboia, and a 100 megawatt solar facility south of Coronach. Two partnerships formed by Potentia Renewables Inc., and its Indigenous partners, Meadow Lake Tribal Council (MLTC) and Mistawasis Nêhiyawak First Nation, will develop, own, and operate a new wind and a new solar facility in south-central Saskatchewan.

Williston Basin Petroleum Conference: Moe on Energy, Trade and the Federal Election
Premier Scott Moe & Cenovus Executive Vice President Jeff Lawson spoke at the Williston Basin Petroleum Conference on April 29 to kick off the event. The discussion ranged from trade barriers and pipelines to careers and of course, the federal election. This was the first public appearance of Moe the morning after the election.

Trump won’t stop talking about annexing Canada
On May 4, NBC’s Meet the Press broadcast an interview with President Donald Trump which in part talked about his thoughts on turning Canada into the 51st state. Trump did not back down on that assertion at all, and instead reiterated his claims. Energy was part of that discussion.

Either a bylaw amendment is approved, or the Weyburn wind project is dead
Over a half billion dollar wind project is on the line just outside of Weyburn, and at this point it comes down to one simple thing – a bylaw on the books of the RM of Weyburn that was never really intended to be there in the first place needs to be changed to allow taller wind turbines, or the project will die.
