The Saskatchewan Oil and Gas Show donated $10,000 to the Estevan Oilfield Technical Society for scholarships recently. Here’s what the OTS said in a post on Facebook on Aug. 27:
The Estevan Oilfield Technical Society is incredibly proud and grateful to receive this generous $10,000 donation from the Saskatchewan Oil & Gas Show!
Our scholarship program began in 1999, with Carl leading the way. Since then, Estevan OTS has awarded more than $75,000 in scholarship funding to local students. We currently provide $2,000 in scholarships each year to students at Estevan Comprehensive School. This incredible donation will allow us to increase that amount and create even more opportunities for local students moving forward. This is more than a cheque—it is our industry investing in its future, supporting young people and giving back to the community that supports all of us.
A massive thank-you to the Saskatchewan Oil & Gas Show and everyone who helped make this possible. We are excited to put this donation to work for the next generation!Local industry. Local students. A stronger future.
Editor’s note: On a personal note, My daughter was a recipient of this scholarship a few years ago and now she’s a third year heavy duty mechanic apprentice working for Finning Cat. It was a great help. Thank you to the OTS, and thank you to the Oil Show Board for doing this.
