NDP propose increasing resource surcharge on oil and potash, and handing out their version of Ralph Bucks with the money

The NDP want in hike the Saskatchewan resource surcharge by one percent, but would actually increase the revenue it gets on most oil wells by 58 per cent. And they want to hand it out like “Ralph Bucks,” to help Saskatchewan people deal with inflation. This is one of the few times the NDP have brought up energy issues during this session of the Legislature, and their proposal to mess with resource royalties, if enacted, would mark a dramatic shift in an energy policy that’s been kept in place since the Calvert era.
